{"id":15689,"date":"2025-06-23T10:55:07","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T10:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oeuvre-orient.fr\/communiques\/press-release-attack-on-a-church-in-damascus\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T07:03:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T07:03:52","slug":"press-release-attack-on-a-church-in-damascus","status":"publish","type":"communique","link":"https:\/\/www.oeuvre-orient.fr\/en\/communiques\/press-release-attack-on-a-church-in-damascus\/","title":{"rendered":"Press Release: Attack on a Church in Damascus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Paris, June 22,<\/strong> <strong>2025 \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019\u0152uvre d\u2019Orient is horrified and condemns the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Elijah in the suburbs of Damascus that occurred during Mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to preliminary reports, this attack at a place of worship and peace left 20 people dead and 53 injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019\u0152uvre d\u2019Orient extends its condolences to the families of the victims and to the entire Christian community in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ensuring the safety of all religious communities is essential to the country&#x27;s reconstruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Syrian and international authorities must take the necessary measures immediately.
