Over the centuries, the Christian East has given rise to numerous figures of holiness who have left their mark on the history of their Churches. Whether martyrs, monks, or bishops, these men and women bore witness to their faith even to the point of giving their lives, sometimes at the cost of great suffering. From Saint Barbara to the 21 Coptic martyrs, including Saint Rafqa and Saint Dimitri, each of these life stories sheds light on a part of the history and spirituality of Eastern Christians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
