This prayer was written by Father Paul Couturier, who initiated this week of prayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lord Jesus, on the eve of Your death for us,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You prayed that all your disciples might be perfectly one,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just as you are in your Father and your Father is in you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make us feel it\u2014even to the point of pain<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The infidelity of our separation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grant us the loyalty to acknowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the courage to say no<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The indifference and mistrust that lie hidden within us,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And even mutual hostility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grant that we may encounter one another in you,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So that it may rise unceasingly from our souls and our lips,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Prayer for Christian Unity,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However you want it, however you choose to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In you, who are perfect love,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Help us find the path that leads to unity,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In obedience to your love and your truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every year, from January 18 to 25, Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox Christians are called to come together for the Week of Christian Unity.
