The Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur Hospital belongs to the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. Originally a simple clinic when it opened in 1847, it later expanded to become, in 1860, the French Sacred Heart Hospital of the Daughters of Charity. As the city of Beirut expanded, the hospital moved to the suburb of Hazmieh. It took on its current form in 1965: a 320-bed general hospital where patients from different regions of Lebanon are welcomed regardless of their religious affiliation.<\/p>\n

The Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur Hospital responded to the call from the Lebanese Ministry of Health to admit and treat patients with COVID-19 by setting up new facilities housing an intensive care unit with a capacity of 5 beds. In response to demand, further renovations to the wards are underway to accommodate and treat patients whose condition is less critical.<\/strong> Combined with the usual material needs, the additional requirements and facilities necessitated by the current pandemic demand substantial funds, at a time when Lebanon is also facing a severe financial crisis.<\/p>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

The Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur Hospital, run by the Daughters of Charity, provides access to healthcare for the entire population, regardless of religion. As the health crisis intensifies, the hospital staff had only enough protective equipment to last ten days by the end of March. Faced with a shortage of protective equipment compounded by the financial difficulties caused by the economic crisis in Lebanon, the Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur Hospital needs support.<\/p>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n
