O Holy Spirit, abide with us always,
for it is good for us to be with You.
But the soul doesn't always feel this good,
because pride causes us to lose grace.
That is how, long ago, they sought you,
Mary and Joseph, both filled with anxiety;
What was your mother thinking in her grief,
when she couldn't find her beloved Son?
Likewise, at the Lord’s death, the hearts of the saints
"The Apostles" was painful and sad,
their hope having vanished.
But at the Resurrection, the Lord appeared to them;
and they recognized Him,
and they were filled with joy.
Likewise, now the Lord reveals Himself to us,
and we recognize Him through the Holy Spirit.
We come to know God's love through the Holy Spirit;
and the Holy Spirit—the heart recognizes Him by the peace He brings
and its sweetness.
