Southern Lebanon: Marjayoun Hit by Rockets; a School and a Church Damaged

In the conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli army, several rockets fired by Hezbollah landed last night in the predominantly Christian village of Marjayoun in southern Lebanon, causing damage to the School of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts and to the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, a designated Lebanese historical landmark.

L’Œuvre d’Orient, which supports this school and the residents of this community, strongly condemns these acts of war that threaten civilians, damage their homes and places of worship, and force those who have remained in the area to flee.

Like the local residents, L’Œuvre d’Orient calls for a return to peace and for the right of local communities to remain on their land.
