St. Joseph University in Aleppo received aid that helped 93 students. The university also organized spiritual and social gatherings in the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese. Here is the university’s account:
“We selected the students most in need who are studying in the engineering schools, and then we also selected students from other schools to distribute the financial scholarships. Ninety-three students received scholarships as well as gifts distributed during the celebrations. These grants helped them cover the costs of their education and transportation.”
The meeting began with a prayer led by Father Afram, our spiritual guide. We then discussed the Feast of the Cross, its meaning, its origin, and the connection between the cross and the life of a Christian. Afterward, the students were divided into groups to discuss the verse, “Take up your cross and follow me,” along with the question, “How do you face the difficulties that your cross presents in life?”
Note: For the social discussion, we have selected certain students to help us prepare the topic. These students are replaced by others (approximately every 3 months) to give others the opportunity to participate.
