Born on April 23, 1949, journalist. An Arabist, Luc Balbont has lived since 1989 between France and Lebanon, where his family resides. Over the course of 40 years in journalism, he has covered many of the events and upheavals in the Arab world, from the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990) to the Arab Spring of 2011. In 2006, he received the “Reporter of Hope” award for his reporting in Egypt and Palestine, and in 2012, he was awarded the L’Œuvre d’Orient literary prize for the book *Jusqu’au bout ” (Nouvelle Cité), a collection of interviews with Archbishop Casmoussa, the Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Mosul.
