Exhibition

Eastern Christians, Bearers of Hope

June 29–September 30, 2026
, Notre-Dame-des-Flots Church, Canet-Plage
(Monday–Saturday: 10 a.m.–1 p.m. / 4 p.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m.–11 a.m.)

The Eastern Churches have existed since the beginning of our era. They emerged in the early days of Christianity through the preaching of the apostles, beginning in Jerusalem, and spread throughout the Roman Empire and beyond, as far as Persia, India, and Ethiopia….
Eastern Christians are the descendants of these early Christians. They belong to various Eastern Churches, which encompass diverse realities, eventful histories, and a wide variety of rites.

This exhibition invites visitors to discover their 2,000 years of history and to witness the richness of this diversity. Christians today are suffering from the crises shaking the Middle East. Through their work, however, they are active every day in the fields of education, healthcare, and cultural heritage. Their very presence is essential to preserving social cohesion and peace, which are often threatened in the region.
