While recognizing the urgency of dismantling the structures of the “Islamic State” organization, the Œuvre d’Orient nevertheless hopes that the presence of Christians in Syrian Mesopotamia—including their churches, dioceses, schools, and clinics—will be taken into account. It calls on Kurdish organizations in Syria to respect the inalienable right of Christian communities to live there and to act in accordance with their beliefs.
L’Œuvre d’Orient calls on the relevant governments and international organizations to be mindful of the presence of Christians—Syrian citizens and long-time residents of the region.
