Beyond the loss of life, this war has had terrible social consequences. Food and medicine supplies are extremely limited. In the West Bank, more than 3,000 Christians have lost their jobs.
To help these families, and in particular to meet their basic needs, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has set up a food voucher program. This aid is part of a broader program that offers the following services: medical support—particularly for chronic illnesses—educational support, clothing distributions, and internships and training programs for young Palestinian Christians

This project targets the hardest-hit communities, particularly young people, to restore their hope by offering them opportunities for decent work in their own communities.
This assistance is also being provided in the West Bank, in Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, and Jenin. However, food aid alone is not enough to ensure sustainable security. That is why L’Œuvre d’Orient is committed to supporting schools, such as those run by the Daughters of Charity. These schools welcome students of all faiths and are the cornerstones of building lasting peace.
