This prayer is recited every day in Ananias’s house in Damascus, a former underground chamber where Ananias baptized Paul of Tarsus, who would later become the Apostle Saint Paul. This building has been used as a church since the early centuries.
Lord Jesus Christ,
You who appeared in the sky over Damascus to your apostle Paul and to Ananias in this very house, showering them with your love, your strength, and your peace—we ask you, through their intercession, to protect Syria, our beloved country, from all evil.
We also implore you, through the intercession of your holy Mother—to whom you can refuse nothing—to grant us and our Syrian brothers and sisters the grace of a sincere attachment to our beloved homeland. May we all be good citizens, truly eager to fulfill our role with filial devotion in building this country that You Yourself chose as the starting point for spreading Your light and love throughout the earth.
So that Syria may remain true to its mission of peace, love, brotherhood, harmony, and light for all nations.
Amen
