A renowned courtesan in the 2nd century in Heliopolis—a Lebanese city now known as Baalbek—she amassed an immense fortune by prostituting herself to powerful men.
One day, at last, she heard Germain, a monk, reading the passage about the Last Judgment. He described the punishments reserved for sinners and the rewards for the righteous.
Upon hearing these words, Eudoxia was deeply moved and decided to change her life. She was baptized, distributed her possessions to the poor, and led a life of penance in a monastery.
However, at a time when Christians were being persecuted, her faith drew the attention of the Roman authorities. Arrested on the governor’s orders, Eudoxia was ordered to pray to the pagan gods. Refusing to renounce Christ, she was tortured and ultimately beheaded.
The story of Saint Eudoxia shows that grace can change everything!
